Amaretto is such an Italian flavour and in this post you saw how it was an integral part of the Affogato recipe I shared.
And with this Indian Summer we're currently experiencing, I thought it was about time I shared my favourite Summer Cocktail recipe containing, you guessed it, Amaretto.
A sweet and sour combo is one of the most refreshing combinations out there, so make this in haste, before the long Summer days are over and we're all firmly hugging mulled wines and ciders.
Per person you'll need the following:
2 measures of Amaretto (50ml)
1 measure of sugar syrup (25 ml) see below for details
1 measure of lime juice (25ml)
Ice
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake well to mix. Pour into a small tumbler filled with ice. Enjoy!
Sugar syrups are mainstays of many cocktails out there. Don't be put off, they're ludicrously quick to knock up, just follow these simple steps.
250ml water
250g caster sugar
Simply add the sugar and water to a small saucepan and bring to the boil. Stir with a wooden spoon until the sugar has dissolved (around 5 minutes). Store in a sterilised glass bottle or jar. Keeps up to 1 month. And voila! Ready to use sugar syrup!
